The Work Behind The Mythology Garden

I have spent more than thirty years growing vegetables, fruit, trees, and just about every kind of garden project that can go right, or teach you something when it does not. Across several homesteads and extensive garden projects, I have learned what survives, what fails, what is worth the effort, what only looks good on paper, and which decisions are expensive to undo later.

But gardening has always been connected, for me, to something more than production or appearance: mythology, folklore, sacred plants, old stories, and landscapes that carry meaning.

For the past year and a half, I have been building my current off-grid homestead from the ground up. Now that it is mostly complete, which is a generous use of the word “complete,” it has become the place where I can build this work at a larger scale and share the process in public.

The Mythology Garden brings together hands-on gardening experience, homesteading, plant research, practical planning, mythology, folklore, and the systems I have developed through years of building and troubleshooting real projects.

The guides and planning tools here are built from that body of work. They are designed to help you make stronger decisions before you buy plants, move stone, build paths, or spend money in the wrong place. They turn mythology, plant symbolism, and practical garden design into a usable framework for creating a garden that feels intentional from the beginning.

This website and YouTube channel follow the new build from the start. You can watch it take shape on a real piece of land through the planning, construction, materials, setbacks, revisions, and gradual transformation of a homestead landscape into a mythology garden.
